You’re unlikely to come across this restaurant unless you’re staying nearby. Tucked away in the Providencia neighbourhood where my hotel was located, I stumbled upon El Ancla Providencia by chance while out for an evening walk. It’s a nice, clean restaurant, and despite the limited English, the staff were friendly and pleasant. I ordered a beef empanada and raw scallops. Having tried empanadas in other Latin American countries, this was my first time tasting one in Chile. It was decent, though a little oily and lacking in filling—there was very little beef. The scallops, on the other hand, were extremely fresh and I really enjoyed them. If you’re in the area, I’d recommend stopping by. It’s not worth making a special trip, but it’s a pleasant option if you’re close by.

This beautiful restaurant is a must visit! The outdoor patio is enclosed by gorgeous green hedges. Beautiful white umbrellas and patio lights really complete the feel of the place. Tons of fresh, beautiful seafood on the menu.

Lovely seafood restaurant, good service. Large menu almost taunting. Most mains you have to buy your accompaniments so this puts your price up. Our meals were excellent. Generous and beautifully cooked white fish. The seafood salad had a large portion of sushi grade salmon, shrimp and a nice mix of fresh greens.
