I found La Joya very enjoyable. The 4 person room with a private bathroom was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I came during the slower season so I had the entire 4 person suite to myself. The hostel was very quiet and the staff was quick to help me with any problems. I liked the restaurant that’s attached for a brew or burger and the public transit was very accessible. I can understand the other reviews about the area, but personally I felt perfectly safe. They have security at the front desk all night and as long as you keep your wits about you there’s really no need to worry about petty theft. The waterfront is only 5-10min walk from the hostel which I enjoyed runs on and also the brewery on the pier where you can watch sunsets. If you’re looking for a more chill stay in Valparaiso outside the super touristy area then this is for you!

Beds were comfy and clean. Bathroom was clean but could do with a bathmat to keep the floor dry after showers! Breakfast was great..good coffee, scrambled eggs, bread, ham and cheese! Parking was a bit of a hassle as there is limited space so inevitably your car will get parked in by other guests so you have to deal with that. This could be improved, but at least the lot is secure.

The rooms looked very basic and worn. The beds were simple, and the bunk bed shook with every movement. The en-suite bathroom had no external ventilation, making it somewhat moldy. Our three-bed room on the second floor had one small window, while the first floor had none. The furniture was minimal, ragged, and noticeably worn out. Cleaningness was rather poor. I found hair on the shower. The common areas of the hostel had a stylish design and a clear concept. However, over time, the execution fell short, and the original vision was not fully maintained. I arrived by car, and fortunately, they had a parking lot. However, the cars were tightly packed, requiring guests to leave their keys. While this wasn’t a major issue, there was no valet service. If a car needed to be moved, either the staff or another guest would handle it. Breakfast was quite basic, consisting of milk, yogurt, cereal, fruit, tea or coffee, and a piece of bread with butter, two slices of ham, and two of cheese. On the positive note, it was well-located, with great connectivity by public transportation and interregional buses. The value was fair for the service.

good location. great restaurant in the hostel, very good, modern food. pleasant breakfasts. nice service. only the rooms were a bit dirty and unfortunately very dark. it is very unpleasant to spend time there. as a place where you just sleep - ok, but nothing more. The tip envelope for the cleaners made me laugh a little, because it was just dirty.
