As regular travelers to Chile who frequently stay in Puerto Montt, this is the first hotel that has ever refused to grant the 19% IVA tax exemption for a foreign guest sharing a room with a Chilean national. The receptionist suggested that if that were the case, a foreigner could just make a reservation for a Chilean 🤦🏽‍♀️🙄. This hotel is simply not premium enough to justify dealing with such poor service, especially when superior options like Marriott are available nearby. We only chose Ibis this time due to its convenient location right next to the bus station, but we are not planning to stay there again. Breakfast: I asked if I could have fried eggs but the guy at the entrance said that only boiled or scrambled. I told him that I feel nauseous when I eat it like that but no, he said no. On a positive note, their use of paper garbage bags is a nice, sustainable touch.

We had one night stay here and had a pleasant experience. Perfect transfer point to Bariloche or to any regional parks as it is located at the bus terminal. Hotel is clean and has good breakfast before our long bus journey to the Lake District!

12 miles from the airport by uber (about $13USD) . Main entry door and sign are rather small and not easy to see. Local shopping area next to hotel entry as well as the main bus terminal. Not the best neighborhood but we were here for a quick overnight, thank goodness. Security guard posted by the front door but looked bored. Only one Receptionist who was on a phone call for ten minutes while we waited. Room #614: Elevator doors opened and there was a smell, an odor. Hall Carpets were stained and worn. Our room had a very nice view of the strand, town, and water. Very basic room: No water kettle, bathrooms had shampoo and soap. No other amenities (toothbrush, toothpaste etc) . Bath towels were small , thin, and thread bare. No hand towels, no wash cloths. Old worn floor mat towel. Water was hot; rain shower was like a sprinkler. We had no toilet paper in the room; had to go downstairs to fetch as there are no phones in the room. There is a heater, and the window did open. Bed was comfortable; only two foam pillows. Room had a desk table tv and plastic chair, small TV and a Safe. Restaurant/cafeteria is on the third floor. Burger/fries were good. Free breakfast in the morning was
