Great hidden gem. One level below street level outside of an office building. The food and service were phenomenal. Our waiter Vito did speak much English but was able to recommend some pasta and sauce pairings that were fantastic. The arrabiata pizza was also delicious.

We enjoyed our meal here. Victor was a great server and the kitchen staff made my kid’s day letting them watch them make pizzas. We had pasta, pizza and risotto - everything was delicious. I would return for sure.

My fiancée and I set out one afternoon looking for a restaurant for lunch but ended up with the wrong directions. Our Uber dropped us off at the given address only to find no restaurant in sight. We wandered around a bustling shopping plaza and unexpectedly came across Il Pazzo. I was craving pizza, so we asked the server who had greeted us at the entrance if they served it. She gave us an enthusiastic yes, and we embraced the unplanned adventure by stepping inside for lunch. The restaurant exuded a modern art-deco vibe that felt both hip and inviting. Our server was charming and attentive, and our food arrived quickly, allowing us to enjoy a delicious, leisurely meal without feeling rushed. After lunch we realized Il Pazzo was actually not far from our hotel. We took a stroll back and discovered a new part of the neighborhood we had not yet explored. What began as a simple miscue turned into a delightful surprise. Thanks to Il Pazzo for rescuing our lunch and giving us every reason to return on our next visit to Santiago.

You have to really want to go to iL Pazzo to search for it so. The place is off the beaten path, literally buried underground. That raises the question: Is this a worthy quest? I'll present the evidence, you decide. As you enter, there on the wall above is a painting of a pizza, with slices of tomato, basil leaves and melted mozzarella cheese. Even mere mortals would recognize that as a Margherita pizza. This is a pizza joint, no two ways about it. There may be gnocchi on the menu, but the menu is most certainly pizza centric. I ordered a pizza with Jamon and salami on it - that's about as meatarian as it gets here. After much deliberation and questioning of the waiter, my wife ordered a Margherita pizza. 'No we don't put fresh sliced tomato on the pizza, no, no basil leaves either, just some pesto... no big chunks of melted mozzarella on the top.' In unison my wife and I looked at the painting on the wall, and then into the waiter's eyes. Just a blank stare looking back. The pizzas arrived reasonably quickly, the two glasses of spumante arrived much more quickly. My Jamon and salami pizza was about as expected. My wife stared at hers. They literally make all their pasta in house and the sauces were fresh and you can taste made with how much love they are made! It was absolutely delicious! The wine selection was amazing and I was able to try some new Chilean wine I have not even heard before. We were four guests and Vito, our server, was just great, dealing with our needs and 1000 questions and making our evening a very special one. The atmosphere was super romantic….the weather was perfect….the setting and lights and vibes were a delight! Perfection! Highly recommended!
