El primer local nace en Cienfuegos 280, el cual era un taller mecánico familiar. Impulsado por un sueño con su padre; Arturo De La Vega decide cerrarlo y poner en marcha lo que sería su gran proyecto hasta el día de hoy. Al definir su nombre, se vivía la crisis asiática del año ’98 y para responder paradójicamente al dicho “tiempo de vacas flacas” del que tanto se hablaba entonces nace Las Vacas Gordas Restaurante.

First place we visited in Santiago arriving from Mendoza - and by far the best steak in the last 3 weeks - comparing Colombia, Argentina, and Chile

Exceptional service, superb steak perfectly cooked and a great atmosphere. Would eat here every night but for the fact I live in the north of England where it takes 3 hours just to get to an airport! Also worth the visit for the wonderful ties.

We all thought the food and service were really good, but one thing that holds this place back from getting that last star is the atmosphere. We were seated on the second floor and the ceiling is so low there that sound amplify and reflect back. We could hardly hear ourselves think, let alone have a conversation. Thankfully the food is very good and service top notch.

This place was busy with locals and had no noticeable tourists, which is always a good sign. On Saturday, the wait time outside was about 20 minutes, but it moved quickly and was well organized. The wood fired steak was outstanding, full of flavor and cooked perfectly. The small empanadas were just as impressive. The service was excellent. One of the waiters spoke very good English and was incredibly helpful, guiding me through the menu and recommending great dishes. I do not remember his name, but his service made a real difference. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing. This is not a fancy or overpriced restaurant like those in El Golf, but it delivers a much better overall experience, with excellent steaks and better value for money. Highly recommended.

Awesome dining spot! Make sure you try to make a reservation, it gets super busy at night! They have a wide selection on their steaks and other meat and fish as well as pasta if you're not a meat person. Steaks are done perfectly to what you asked for, so make sure you know how you like your steak to be done! Side dishes are delicious 😋 desserts are very well done too, overall a great dinner spot!
