Unfortunately, our stay at The Ritz-Carlton Santiago was a letdown, especially considering the reputation of the Ritz-Carlton brand and the premium price we paid. Our stay got off to a disappointing start with a delayed check-in, and as Marriott Bonvoy Titanium Elite members, we didn’t feel that our loyalty was recognized throughout our stay. While the hotel itself is ok, the service was consistently slow and inattentive. Throughout our stay, there was very little proactive hospitality, and simple requests often took longer than expected. We also encountered a stained bath towel in our room, and the room phone wasn’t working, both of which were surprising oversights for a hotel of this caliber. Even basic touches of luxury hospitality were missing—on several occasions when entering or leaving the hotel, the doorman didn’t acknowledge us or open the door, and when we checked out, no one offered to assist with our luggage. Overall, the experience lacked the warmth, efficiency, and attention to detail that you’d expect from a luxury hotel. My daughter and I had two multi-night stays, one in a regular double queen room and one in an upgraded room. Both rooms were lovely and comfortable. The most lovely aspect of the hotel is the service and I cannot say enough about the considerate and thoughtful way we were treated. Some special shoutouts to Kristopher (concierge), Alejandro (breakfast), Miguel (breakfast) Cleiser (room service) and Diego (driver). Kristopher helped us plan out our whole walking day in Santiago and arranged a phenomenal trip to Valparaiso. Alejandro made sure my coffee was as hot as I like it (to be honest, a challenge) and packaged a perfect breakfast for my daughter. Miguel gave me helpful tips on Valparaiso and sent along some delicious Chilean snacks from the kitchen. We go, go, go during the day and so ordered room service a couple times and Cleiser was on time, so helpful and so polite while making sure our orders were perfect. Diego drove us to Valparaiso and to the airport and we felt safe and secure and laughed very hard at some of his stories. I have traveled globally for decades. This was my first trip to Chile and I'm so happy the Ritz-Carlton was part of it. I would return in
